Contrary to popular belief, the first step to creating a great company or business does not stem from  great idea coming from brainstorming sessions. Taking the angle of brainstorming for a startup idea may not be the most productive way.

Instead, look for markets that are growing rapidly or are laden with potential. Once you’re certain of a certain market, try to determine if there are existing problems. For instance, perhaps a group of consumers has been left out. You should then invest time and effort in understanding their tastes and preferences, including why existing services and solutions have not worked.

Now think of a quick fix to the problem. It most probably will not work just yet, but implementing and testing it will allow you to gather the information you need to get it right after subsequent corrections.

And there you have it! While easier said than done, try following these steps when coming up with your next idea!
